Metallic and Blush – my two favorite things right now
I call this the “I think my neck hurts” pose
Then there’s the “oh crap I forgot my phone in the car” pose
Oh then there’s the “I’m going to sit here and act like I’m cool” pose
There’s a bird in the tree!
The laugh like there’s something really funny but I’m really just pretending. My acting ends here. 🙂

Can’t get over the metallic trend right now. I actually want to paint my nails a metallic silver too. However, if you follow me on Instagram you may notice I have a slight obsession for all things blush. The color is just so soft, feminine, and fresh; perfect for spring and summer. As I mentioned in a previous blog post this Leith Cocoon Cardigan is out of stock but you can find a similar one here and it’s only $14!
In this post, I’d like to highlight the metallic element. Overall I kept the foundations of my look simple with distressed jeans, flowy white top, and a pretty blush cardigan. Metallic accessories pulled everything together to give me that chic look yet cool with the metallic play. Obviously, my sunnies, baby backpack, and Valentino studs carry that metallic theme which provides this look the perfect amount of bling to drive my self-confidence up a few notches.
I’d like to take a few minutes to talk about self-confidence. I always tell my daughter, Ari that clothes and shoes don’t make you pretty, you make you pretty. Clothes and shoes are just cherries on top. She’s still very adamant that only maxi dresses and high heel shoes make her look pretty. Ughhhh and so it begins. And what I mean by “you make, you pretty” is self-love and self-acceptance.
See I didn’t grow up with high self-esteem. Most of my adolescence I felt like an ugly duckling with acne, flat Asian nose, browner skin and smaller eyes than the rest of my cousins and to top it off my pigeon toe dilemma. I believe the society I lived in didn’t consider my physical appearance to be beautiful. And I believed it! I didn’t have that pale/acne free skin, pointy small nose, big eyes with a big crease and stick thin figure. So growing up I was actually considered pretty full figured with boobs and all. LOL. And girls like me were considered “bad.” So sad.
However, when I moved back to the US I felt like I belonged. I wasn’t made of by my peers or family anymore. At school, there were all sorts of people dressed up all preppy, gothic, casual, nerdy, and some didn’t care yet they had their crew. I learned that beauty came in all different forms and the best form was a down to earth/genuine person with style. Whatever that means! lol. I finally learned to love and accept myself along with my imperfections. It’s crazy how other’s acceptance of you can alter your perception of yourself. Now that I’m in my 30’s and mature beyond my years I feel great in my own skin! My husband will probably laugh at my statement of maturity. LOL
So if you’re feeling down put on your favorite outfit look in the mirror, find your best angle and say “I”m beautiful, I’m smart, I’m important and man I have style!” I do it all the time. But seriously though it’s always wise to take some time every day to do some self-reflection on your day. Think about the highs and lows of your day and how you would do things differently. Us humans are so complicated and self-reflection/self-discovery is essential to staying sane! At least that’s my opinion. 🙂 Try it and let me know how it goes.
Lastly, I didn’t want my blog to be all superficial because that’s not me. Don’t get me wrong, I believe fashion is an art form and that’s why there are influencers who are there to inspire you. But true inspiration goes beyond the aesthetically pleasing photos, it’s being open and vulnerable to those around you. I hope you enjoyed this post!
